NRL record at nib Stadium

While Friday night may well be remembered for its record rainfalls in Perth, it also marked record sales for a National Rugby League fixture at nib Stadium when our adopted South Sydney Rabbitohs took down the Brisbane Broncos.

Pre-sold tickets combined with brave walk up gate sales meant that this monumental game was in fact a sellout! Despite the torrential downpour deterring some ticketholders from attending the match, tickets in circulation hit an all time rugby league high for nib Stadium.

South Sydney Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson confirmed the sell out and commended the punters that came along to support the Rabbitohs for their one game in Perth which has become an annual feature in nib Stadium’s event calendar.

nib Stadium CEO, Peter Bauchop said “The pre-issued tickets for this game was record breaking for a Nation Rugby League Fixture at nib Stadium. While some punters understandably stayed at home due to the weather, we saw a huge number of fans brave the elements and show their support for both teams who played outstanding wet weather football. This says a lot about Rugby League in Perth and the dedication of fans and the thirst for our own WA National Rugby League franchise.”

Rugby League hero and the face of nib Paul Harragon was in town to witness Friday night’s events and agreed there is a great core of rugby league fans in Perth.
